Context and aim: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common nervous- Cognitive disorders. The disease has unpleasant and unpredictable symptoms and with increasing levels of physical and mental disability so the need to Improving health Programs. This present study examines the relationship between quality of life and social support in patients with MS.
Analysis method: For this purpose were selected from all eligible MS patients (160 patients) in hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The data were combined questionnaire that included demographic, quality of life and social support and it was collected by interview.
Results: The results showed a significant direct relationship between the two variables quality of life and social support and it was unfavorable Psychological (53%) and physical (57.3%) in most patients. In components of social protection was the most favorable support for the components of emotional support (57.3%), So that accounted 14% of the total variance in their quality of life. So was not significant statistically effect of tool support and informational support on quality of life.
Conclusion: The majority of patients had not desirable quality of life and social support and considering the relationship between two variables, especially the impact of emotional support on quality of life It is recommended, care planners and administrators decide to strengthen support tools and information, in addition to emotional support, strengthen, and thus improve the quality of life in this group of patients.
