Abstract This study aims to examine the factors have influenced the level of academic failure and determine trends on the second high school students. This study has used two variable regression analysis, so 200 students of girls and boys secondary schools of Region 2 in Tehran were selected by random sampling during the academic year 2005-2006. Then the students were asked to answer a academic failure questionnaire which contains 16 questions in three dimensions such as individual, family and the school factors. The reliability of the questionnaire was measured using Cronbach's alpha and 0/79 value was in the accepted range. And the validity of the questionnaire was approved using content validity with the opinions of professors. Data analysis was examined using the software SPSS21 using regression analysis. The results showed that individual factors, family and school influences on academic performance of students.
